Avengers: Endgame’s Robert Downey Jr. Says He Won’t Return Captain America’s Shield

Avengers: Endgame is just a few days away from its big premiere, and it looks like anticipation over the film is in full swing. While fans wait, Iron Man star Robert Downey Jr. decides to address one of the many questions that's been bothering the fan base – while Tony Stark ever give Captain America (Chris Evans) his original shield back?

Taking to Twitter, Robert Downey Jr. has been busy sharing quite a number of gifs of himself from Endgame's press tour. In one of the gifs, the Marvel star jokes about his character needing to return the Captain America shield to Steve Rogers. Unfortunately, it seems like he has no planning of returning the item any time soon.

"And also maybe not tomorrow..." the actor wrote on his post, tagging Evans.

Of course, fans have seen Steve with his iconic shield in trailers for Avengers: Endgame. However, we have yet to see Tony actually return the shield to Steve – it's been quite a while since we've seen the two together since the events of Captain America: Civil War which split the Avengers into two. Marvel fans are looking forward to seeing Captain America and Iron Man finally reunite in Endgame, though the various TV spots for the film hint that the reunion might not be as amicable as one might hope for. Let's just hope that the two finally settle the little wrinkle between them so they can get on and undo Thanos' massacre.

Avengers: Endgame premieres April 26, 2019.
