Avengers: Endgame’s Chris Evans Says Batman Was His Favorite Childhood Superhero

Chris Evans might be playing Captain America for the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but it turns out that the Marvel star's favorite superhero growing up as a kid was actually DC's Batman.

Evans just recently sat down with The Hollywood Reporter to play "Fishing for Answers" a game where he answers fan questions about all sorts of things. One of the questions that the Marvel star drew from the team's fishing bowl was about who his favorite childhood superhero actually was. While most would expect Captain America or some other Avenger, Evans actually said Batman, explaining that he wasn't that cool when he was a child.

"I wasn't that cool, I was more into cartoons, like Bugs Bunny and Looney Toons, things like that," Evans revealed before deciding upon a proper superhero. "I'll say, Batman. I really liked that, I mean I probably shouldn't say that DC, it's... I don't want to get in any trouble. But those Michael Keaton movies, those were pretty big, so yeah. I'll say, Batman."

Hearing Evans mention Michael Keaton as one of the biggest factors why his favorite superhero as a child was Batman barely comes as a surprise. Keaton's Batman movie in 1989 was the highest grossing film of the domestic box office that year, beating another major blockbuster, Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade.

Evans sure has good taste in Batman heroes.

Right now, Evans is set to reprise his role in Avengers: Endgame, a film that's not only expected to close Joe and Anthony Russo's two-part Avengers movie but also expected to culminate the past ten years of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Avengers: Endgame premieres April 26, 2019.
