Avengers: Endgame Writers Discuss Conflicting Opinions Regarding Captain America's Fate

Now that we're all free to talk about Avengers: Endgame, fans have been theorizing about the fate of Captain America. The movie made sure to give Steve Rogers his perfect ending by having him travel back in time and live a long, good life with Peggy Carter. Since this ending was shown, fans have been conflicted about Steve appearing in front of Falcon and giving him the shield; did he time travel back, or did Steve just live 90-plus years with Peggy?

The Russo Brothers claim that Steve eventually came back after Peggy's death. However, writers Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely feel that Steve has been living with Peggy for 90 years and knew when Falcon and Bucky would appear in that spot so he could pass the mantle on to his friend.

It's pretty confusing.

During a Q&A (covered by CBR), Markus and McFeely were asked about these conflicting answers. The two simply stated that it was a question with a lot of answers, so it looks like we won't be getting a definitive one anytime soon. One would be nice in the upcoming Falcon and Winter Soldier series but knowing that he and Peggy might have had children together makes his quick makeout with Sharon Carter very creepy.

Avengers: Endgame will be coming to Blu-Ray and digital services soon. It might still be showing in cinemas.
