Avengers: Endgame Writers Confirm Captain America Had Children With Peggy Carter

Although Avengers: Endgame answered several questions about the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the film's conclusion also led to more questions about Captain America. For instance, did Steve Rogers change the past when he went back to marry Peggy Carter? Interestingly, the movie's screenwriters have confirmed that Steve didn't just tie the knot with the love of his life: They also had children.

Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely recently spoke to The Hollywood Reporter to shed some light on several Endgame fan theories. Not surprisingly, one of the first questions that the writers had to answer involved Captain America's new timeline as he refused to go back to the future and chose to stay with Peggy instead. Not surprisingly, Markus and McFeely agree with the idea that the man Peggy admitted to marrying and having children with in Captain America: The Winter Soldier was actually Steve all along.

"It was always our intention that he was the father of those two children. But again, there are time travel loopholes for that," McFeely said.

The idea of Steve having kids with the woman he's loved all his life is more than just romantic. "It does introduce the idea that there are two children who have somewhat super soldier DNA," Markus added.

The thought of super powered children is certainly an interesting one but most people are concerned about how Steve's decision to change his past had actually altered the future. Alternatively, some fans think that Steve may have messed up everybody's timeline because of his choice.

We have yet to see the results of Steve's alternate timeline. For now, we can rest assured that Cap lived a happy life that made him more open to passing on the shield to Sam Wilson.
