Avengers: Endgame Theory Says The Skrulls Might Play A Role In The Film

Warning: This article contains spoilers for Captain Marvel.

Captain Marvel might have introduced the Skrulls into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, however, the film changed a few details about the alien race. While fans were lead to believe that the Skrulls would be the main villains of Brie Larson's debut into the MCU, Captain Marvel soon revealed that the shape-shifting aliens were simply refugees on the run from the Kree.

Eventually, the Talos (Ben Mendelsohn) and the Skrulls proved themselves as allies to Carol Danvers, and at the end of Captain Marvel, the MCU's strongest Avenger accompanies the Skrulls across space.

Though the Skrull's story in Captain Marvel may have come to an end, fans are hoping to see more of the shape-shifters in the MCU, this time as the villains that they are. According to Screen Rant, some of the latest Avengers: Endgame fan theories hope to see the film revealing some of our favorite MCU heroes as Skrulls – a plot twist that would mimic the Secret Invasion arc in Marvel Comics.

Of course, Endgame is a particularly important film, and it seems unlikely that Joe and Anthony Russo would squeeze in the Secret Invasion when Captain America (Chris Evans) and the rest of the Avengers are busy trying to undo Thanos' Decimation.

Still, regardless of what might come, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige has been teasing a future for the Skrulls in the MCU. Maybe in Captain Marvel 2 or in another Marvel Cosmic Universe entry.

Avengers: Endgame premieres April 26, 2019.
