It isn't going to be easy undoing Thanos' massacre in Avengers: Endgame. Marvel fans are expecting the remaining Avengers and Guardians of the Galaxy to struggle as they try to bring back the victims of the Mad Titan's Decimation, and many believe that fan-favorite heroes like Captain America (Chris Evans) and Iron Man (Tony Stark) to end up sacrificing their lives in the film.
Now, as Endgame approaches its release, new fan theories about potential replacements for Captain America and Iron Man make their way online. One of the most recent fan theories throws in Captain Marvel's Monica Rambeau (Akira Akbar) name, saying that the daughter Captain Marvel's (Brie Larson) best friend might actually become Marvel's Ironheart.
Using her throwaway line about somehow "building a rocket" to visit Carol in space, a Marvel fan on Reddit has been pitching Monica Rambeau as the next Iron Man.
"My theory is that after the events of endgame, with the retirement of Ironman, Monica Rambeau will step up and take on the mantle of Ironheart in the films," the Marvel fan writes on his Reddit post, " With the line of "building a rocket," we can already see that Monica has some kind of interest in engineering. As well, her mother is a pilot, which is the same background as Rhodes (War Machine) in the Iron Man films."
It does sound like a possibility. Marvel's going to need someone to take on the Iron Man mantle after Tony Stark sacrifices himself for the greater good (or retires, who knows).
Still, there have been fans hoping to see Monica take on Captain Marvel's mantle someday, knowing that the character has taken Carol's place in numerous Marvel comics.
