Avengers: Endgame Slows Down As It Falls Below $1 Million At The Global Box Office

Avengers: Endgame is coming closer to ending its theatrical run, and all eyes are on the Marvel movie as it inches closer and closer to beating the box office record being held up by James Cameron's 2009 science fiction epic, Avatar.

However, it seems like the film is starting to slow down at the box office. According to Box Office Mojo's latest report, Avengers: Endgame only made $869, 816 at the global box office on Monday, June 3. This is the first time that the film dropped to below a million in its daily global haul – the lowest amount that the film's made in its entire theatrical run.

$800 million might still seem like a pretty decent haul, but Endgame is definitely slowing down at a higher rate than it's expected to. Analysts were hoping for a leggier run for the Avengers: Infinity War sequel, especially with the summer box office in full swing. Avatar may just be $75 million ahead of Endgame, but with the film slowing down to less than a million per day (and only 38 days to go before concluding its theatrical release), the film may never reach beat the science fiction juggernaut.

Of course, this doesn't necessarily diminish the success of the second installment in Joe and Anthony Russo's two-part Avengers movie. Right now, Endgame is sitting on a $2.71 billion haul, the largest that the Marvel Cinematic Universe has ever seen. Endgame has been nothing but a success, bringing in a whole lot of cash for Marvel Studios.

Let's just wait and see whether the film can really wrestle with Avatar.

Avengers: Endgame is currently screening in cinemas.
