Avengers: Endgame Reveals Just How Thanos Failed His Original Mission

Thanos (Josh Brolin) might have managed to collect all six Infinity Stones and turn half of the Marvel Cinematic Universe's living population into dust, but it seems like Avengers: Endgame is going to prove how the Mad Titan failed to accomplish his mission – bringing balance to the universe.

Last weekend Marvel released a brand new TV spot for Avengers: Endgame, and while the video didn't last long, the teaser made a huge impression on fans with its dark tone and its emptiness. Reduced by half of its living population, Earth seems to become a darker, emptier husk of its old self. Manhattan is covered in grey, and the entire city seems empty with an abandoned Citi Field surrounded by empty vehicles.

Thanos might have wanted to rejuvenate the universe by cutting down its population so that there would be less competition for resources, but instead, the Mad Titan's snappening seems to do very little for Earth. Not only is it emotionally devastating for the ones left behind ( just take a look at the face of Chris Evans' Captain America and Chris Hemsworth's Thor as the teaser talks about moving on), but according to a theory by Screen Rant, reducing the population by such a drastic scale might actually be America back by centuries, turning bustling cities into a ghost town.

Without half of its people to take part in the biome, Thanos has destroyed the country's economy and disturbed the balance of the planet's ecosystem. Now, the question is, will Thanos reconsider his actions when he sees just how deeply his mission failed? Or will the Avengers have to undo the massacre on their own?

Let's wait and see.

Avengers: Endgame premieres April 26.
