Avengers: Endgame is Only $7 Million Away from Beating Avatar's Box Office Record

Ever since 2009, Avatar has sat at the top as the highest grossing box office movie of all time. Avengers: Endgame is aiming to break that record, and MCU fans will be pleased to know that the movie is almost past that finish line.

As per Variety, Avengers: Endgame has already grossed $2.78 billion worldwide, putting it behind Avatar's $2.788 billion by $7.16 million. At this rate, Endgame may be able to beat Avatar's numbers in a few weeks, especially counting that the re-release is yet to come to some foreign countries.

Though some may say that the MCU is "cheating" for having a rerelease, a lot of consider it fair game since Avatar got to its number by having a theatrical run that went beyond 200 days. Endgame has actually been more impressive because it managed to make so much money in so little time.

Personally, I think that Endgame kind of deserved that number, seeing that it had over 10 years of history behind it. I mean, it's impressive that Avatar was still able to earn that high despite being an original film, but you have to admit the cultural impact of Avengers has been way higher that Avatar can't compare.

Though Endgame may end the conflict with Thanos, the actual end of the Infinity Saga is Spider-Man: Far from Home which you can check out in theaters now. Afterwards, everyone is hoping for a Phase 4 slate announcement come SDCC 2019 this coming weekend.
