Avengers: Endgame Finally Confirms Old Steve's True Age

One of the most surprising moments in Avengers: Endgame was the unexpected reveal of Old Steve Rogers handing the Captain America shield over to Sam Wilson. But how old was Steve at that moment? Although people had their guesses, the script for Endgame has just confirmed Cap's true age.

The revelation can be found in the script penned by Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely (via Cinemablend) which features the note, "STEVE ROGERS, age 112." That's about six years older than previously speculated.

But how did the writers come up with Steve's real age? Since Steve was born on July 4, 1918, he would have been 27 when he was frozen in 1945. Now, Endgame takes place 12 years after Steve came out of the ice which would make him 39 at the time. If he went back to 1949 and lived out 74 years of his life with Peggy, it comes up to 113. I guess this would mean he hasn't celebrated his 113th birthday yet when he gave Sam the shield.

It does get a little confusing but it also makes sense. For now, we're just slightly disappointed that Old Steve might not be returning to the Marvel Cinematic Universe anytime soon.

If you're feeling a little sad about Steve's exit from the MCU, you can always reminisce about better times. For instance, a recently revealed video shows Chris Evans rehearsing that awesome elevator fight scene from Captain America: The Winter Soldier.
