Avengers: Endgame Director Didn’t Allow Tom Holland To Have His Own Script

Tom Holland might be expected to appear in Avengers: Endgame but it looks like the Spider-Man: Far From Home actor wasn't allowed to have a script to the movie. Marvel's Spider-Man star is notoriously known for dropping spoilers about the film's that he's appearing in, so much so that Marvel's taken extra precautions to keep Holland from leaking out Endgame's secrets.

Speaking with fans during the Indian Anthem Launch for the second entry in his two-part Avengers movie (via ComicBook.com), director Joe Russo talks about combating spoilers, revealing that Holland wasn't allowed to receive scripts during the production of Endgame.

"Yeah, Tom Holland does not get the script. Tom Holland gets his lines and that's it," Russo told fans at the launch, "He doesn't even know who he's acting opposite of. We'll just, we use like very vague terms to describe to him what is happening in the scene because he has a very difficult time keeping his mouth shut."

It might seem a bit drastic, but the Russos have employed similar methods on the rest of the Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame cast before. Together with his brother Anthony, Joe has long since admitted to filming fake scenes to avoid actual spoilers from leaking out online. The directorial duo also aren't big fans of giving their cast full scripts to their Avengers films, opting instead to give the Marvel stars scripts for their particular scenes.

Holland, however, has proven himself a bit of a big mouth, so the Russos had to crank up their security levels. Whatever it takes to keep Endgame spoiler-free.

Avengers: Endgame premieres April 6, 2019.
