Avengers: Endgame Almost Had a Completely Different Introduction for Captain Marvel

Avengers: Endgame had a great gotcha moment early on when it showed Iron Man about to die in space before Captain Marvel showed up and saved him. Whether you like or dislike her solo movie, the character earned brownie points for saving Tony's life and later cutting her hair, which looks marvelous on Brie Larson. Interestingly enough, Endgame directors Anthony and Joe Russo had different plans to introduce the character.

The directing duo explained how they wanted Iron Man's rescue to be a pseudo mystery at first. This alternate scene would have had the glowing light that accompanies Captain Marvel appear to Tony Stark but cut away so that we don't see the cosmic heroine. When Captain Marvel arrives on Earth with Tony and his spaceship, it would have been more suspenseful since we wouldn't know who would be descending right away.

It's safe to say that it wouldn't have worked out and just plainly showing us Captain Marvel was the right way to go. The scene showed just how powerful and handy Carol Danvers is, with her saving of Iron Man being one of the very first "hell yeah" moments of the movie. She would then rock our worlds by cutting her hair and destroying Thanos' ships with ease.

Fans will be able to purchase Avengers: Endgame right now. No details on a Captain Marvel sequel has been announced.
