Avengers 4 Won’t Have Adam Warlock Either

It looks like Adam Warlock won't be popping up in Avengers 4.

While some fans have been clinging on to the hopes of seeing Marvel's God Slayer giving Thanos a run for his money in Marvel's two-part Avengers movie, many were disappointed to see that Warlock wasn't anywhere near Infinity War.

Now, speaking in an interview with Comic Book, directors Joe and Anthony Russo decide to the bubble early, telling fans that Warlock won't be in the next Avengers movie either.

"Yeah [Adam Warlock]'s not showing up in our stories," Joe told the publication. "Our job as we said a million times is to tell the story of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, not to do direct adaptations of the comics because we're comic book fans."

According to the director, for the film to have emotional weight, he and his brother need to put in a surprise for those who've never read the comic books before as well as for those who have.

"If I know all the events story as they're going to happen then what's the point of going to the film?" he continued. "We want to keep surprising audiences and continue the story that started with Iron Man […] a decade ago."

Fans should have known better than to expect Adam Warlock in Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers 4 though. Sure Goldilocks might have been introduced in the mid-credits scene of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, but director James Gunn has constantly been hinting at the likelihood that fans might not even get to see Warlock in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 in 2020.

Who knows. Maybe Gunn is setting the character up for his upcoming Marvel Cosmic Universe the same way Marvel set up Thanos. Let's just wait and see.

Avengers: Infinity War is currently screening in cinemas.
