Marvel fans might think that the Time Stone's power has everything to do with shifting time to one's own will, but a new fan theory suggests that the Infinity Stone used as Doctor Strange's Eye of Aggamoto might be holding even more dangerous secrets.
Fans have been busy working up different ways for Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.), Captain America (Chris Evans) and the rest of the remaining Avengers to undo Thanos' massacre in Avengers 4, and the most popular theory is that the team is going to make use of time travel to bring back half of the universe's living population.
However, according to this new fan theory, the Time Stone could actually play a big part in Avengers 4, punishing those who weild the stone incorrectly.
Taking to Reddit's Fan Theory sub earlier this morning, a Marvel fan decided to discuss the improper use of the Infinity Stones, saying that while the gems grant enormous amounts of power to the one who wields it, it only works out if they use the correct device.
In the Avengers, Loki was only able to control people with the Mind Stone when he had it in the Staff. Thanos uses the Infinity Gauntlet, Ronan uses his hammer, Doctor Strange uses the Eye of Agamotto – all different devices designed to harness the power of a specific Infinity Stone.
However, if the correct devices aren't in place, then the Gems "punish" the user. Examples of such are the Power Stone which completely wipes out anyone holding it and the Space Stone which sends villains like Red Skull to the other end of the Galaxy.
Following this line of thought, if the Avengers were to improperly use the Time Stone, then the Marvel fan suggests that it would probably send them to a difficult portion of their past. For Tony Stark, that would probably be the Battle of New York. Now, after being sent back in time, Tony can work on ways to undo Thanos' massacre.
