Avengers 4 Directors Confirm One Major Character Death

Marvel fans who've seen Avengers: Infinity War know that Thanos (Josh Brolin) brought a whole lot of chaos with him when he appeared in the film, killing off heroes and characters from the Marvel Cinematic Universe that everyone's come to love. While fans expect many of the deaths to be undone in Avengers 4, directors Joe and Anthony Russo can tell fans that at least one character won't be coming back to life: the Asgardian God of Mischief, Loki (Tom Hiddleston).

There's been a whole lot of speculation that Loki might return after being choked to death during the opening sequence of Avengers: Infinity War, but now it looks like fans have an official confirmation. Loki is dead as a duck.

During the Question and Answer session, the Russos had with fans after Collider's special screening of Infinity War, the directors were asked to address the many theories involving Loki and his death in the film. Before the Q and A, many speculated that Loki had somehow tricked Thanos in Infinity War. After all, the Asgardian God of Mischief had escaped death so many times before. Why wouldn't he be able to do it again?

The directors' answer was quick. "Loki is dead," the Russos confirmed during their panel with their fans.

Of course, the Russos could be trying to mislead the public to keep spoilers from leaking out of Avengers 4. The directorial duo could be trying to keep coy, possibly because Loki might return to life in the sequel to Infinity War. Or, this could all be wishful thinking of a Marvel fan. We'll just have to wait and see what happens in the second installment of the Russo's two-part Avengers movie.

Avengers 4 hits cinemas May 3, 2019.
