Though the 2009 movie had told a solid story all by itself, James Cameron is ready to return to the Avatar franchise with a handful of new movies. The first sequel is set to come out next year, and 20th Century Fox has released some official concept art that brings us back to the world of Pandora.
What's interesting is this concept art was actually released to help promote this new car that Mercedes Benz has come up with that is said to have a design inspired by the upcoming films. It sure does look futuristic, and the fancy lights are sure to make you feel like you can drive this thing in the forest of Pandora.
With the first movie focusing on the sky and flying creatures, the sequel is said to be bringing us to the underwater world of Pandora. We don't have an official synopsis for the movie yet, but it's said that the film will be focusing on the children of Neytiri and Jake Sully this time around.
Original cast members Zoe Saldana and Sam Worthington are set to reprise their roles, and surprisingly Sigourney Weaver and Stephen Lang will be playing their same parts from the original film as well. Despite the return of old cast members, we are also getting some new faces, such as Kate Winslet, Vin Diesel, Jemaine Clement, Michelle Yeoh, David Thewlis, Edie Falco, and more.
The first sequel to Avatar is set to come out Dec. 17, 2021.
