Warning: Spoilers from the final chapter of Attack on Titan ahead.

One of the most talked-about scenes in the final chapter is when Armin Arlert confronts Eren Yeager before their titanic showdown that would result in Eren's demise. Many fans think that Armin was a bit too grateful for killing eighty percent of the population with the implementation of the "Rumbling". In a recent interview with the manga's publisher, creator Hajime Isayama explained what he was aiming for when it came to Armin's "understanding" following Eren's massacre.

According to Twitter user Attack on Fans, who shared an English translation of the interview, Isayama believes that the way he drew the final chapter could be mistaken as Armin approving of the massacre when he does not. The artist feels that the way he illustrated that scene was "somewhat immature".

"Armin didn't approve Eren's actions, but he was benefited from the massacre regardless of his intentions," Attack on Fans wrote. "And since Eren could never be understood by anyone, he told him "Thank you for being a mass murderer for our sake" as a way to get as close to him as possible."

Isayama also responded to the critiques about the final chapter of Attack on Titan.
