Atlanta’s Paper Boi Lands Lead Role In Godzilla Vs. Kong


It looks like Brian Tyree Henry has just landed a lead role in Legendary Entertainment's fourth film in the MonsterVerse franchise, Godzilla vs. Kong.

According to a new report by Variety, Godzilla vs. Kong has just cast Henry in an unknown lead role, adding the Atlanta star to its cast list which includes Stranger Things young actress Millie Bobby Brown and Deadpool 2's young Julian Dennison. For those who aren't familiar with Henry, the actor has starred in the award-winning Donald Glover series Atlanta, playing the role of the rapper Paper Boi. His role in the series earned the actor his second Emmy nomination, the first of which came after appearing as a guest star on the NBC hit, This is Us. The actor has also appeared in films like White Boy Rick and in the upcoming films Widows and If Beale Street Could Talk. He's also set to voice act in Sony's upcoming animated movie, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.

There isn't that much information about Godzilla vs. Kong just yet, however, what is clear is the highly anticipated battle between Godzilla and Kong. The film is to be the fourth installment in the MonsterVerse, Legendary's cinematic universe. The MonsterVerse began with the 2014 film Godzilla and was then followed by Kong: Skull Island, a 2017 movie which managed to rake in more than $565 million at the global box office. Next year, Godzilla's sequel, Godzilla: King of the Monsters, is set to premiere in theatres around the globe. The film is set to star Kyle Chandler, Vera Farmiga, as well as Brown.

Godzilla vs. Kong is set for release on May 22, 2020.
