Shonen Jump+ may be known for action-packed titles like Dandadan and Kaiju No.8, but the service also has other unique series. One of these is the new manga At Summer’s End, a melancholic romance manga with a minimalist art style that’s a breath of fresh air in the Jump+ lineup.

This new manga only began serialization earlier this week. Instead of just one chapter though, readers can get a better sense of what to expect as its first two chapters are available now.

Where to Read the At Summer’s End Manga

Shonen Jump+ is Shueisha’s online-only manga platform that’s the home of many popular series like Spy x Family and Hokkaido Gals Are Super Adorable! It is also where Fujimoto’s Chainsaw Man is serialized in Japan.

This service is only available in Japan. Thankfully, all Jump+ titles have simulpub releases on Manga Plus, the online manga platform of Shueisha that’s available in most of the world.

To further boost the platform’s lineup, Shueisha has started to release more titles on Manga Plus. These include the new At Summer’s End manga, which was released on Manga Plus on November 20.

The Manga Plus release makes sense considering Shueisha’s recent expansion of the service. Just a few months ago, two subscription service tiers were finally offered for readers.

Given the manga’s simulpub release, At Summer’s End got attention from manga readers shortly after it was made available. Many readers were impressed by the series’ unique style.

At Summer’s End Manga Gets Praised Thanks to Minimalist Style

Jump+ titles are typically action-heavy battle shonen or rom-coms, but that’s not the case with At Summer’s End.

Many readers noted that it had a unique, minimalist style. Combining this with a melancholic coming-of-age story that follows the first love of a junior high school girl, the series seems more like a josei or seinen manga.

This makes the series a refreshing change of pace for Manga Plus readers. After all, this type of manga isn’t common to see on mainstream manga platforms. Instead, they’re mostly found in more niche magazines.

As it’s a unique title in the Manga Plus catalog, readers are hoping that the series gets a successful run. Some are concerned though, as this type of series may not appeal to other shonen manga readers.

The next At Summer’s End chapter will be released on Manga Plus on November 27, 2023.
