In late March, it was reported that some parents discovered Assassination Classroom being available in some school libraries.

This sparked concerns about the series being available to middle school students.

Recently, reports have surfaced that the Gifford Middle School in Florida has removed three books in the series.

Specifically, these three books depict students using guns in the classroom.

Another school did something similar as the Elmbrook School District in Wisconsin also removed access to the e-book version of the series from its library.

In Florida, there’s also an organization that is challenging the book, stating that its violent and sexual content is inappropriate for middle school students.

Though for now, there’s no word yet on a statewide ban on it.

Along with Florida, the series is also being challenged in North Carolina, with the series being described as unsuitable for students as it is said to depict students using guns against their teacher.

Currently, removing or banning certain books in some states is a big issue among different organizations and community groups.

As for Assassination Classroom, the series follows a class of middle school students as they try to assassinate their new homeroom teacher.

Though this teacher is not human as it is an alien who aims to destroy the Earth when the school year ends.

This isn’t the first time that a manga has been removed from schools.

Back in 2009, Dragon Ball Z was pulled from schools in Maryland due to its explicit content.

The Death Note manga has also gotten complaints a few years ago due to complaints about its violence.

For now, the Assassination Classroom removal is only happening in some schools, and there’s no word on whether it will affect the series’ availability in stores.
