It has been just a couple of months since the end of their first series, and finally, Asobi Asobase creator Rin Suzukawa is launching a new high school comedy series entitled Outsider Paradise.

This upcoming manga was announced in Manga Action magazine, and it will begin serialization this May.

There’s not a lot of info yet regarding the series, though it did get a short description that gives manga readers a bit of an idea of what it will be about.

From the looks of it, fans of Asobi Asobase should watch out for this new manga.

School comedy is a popular genre in manga and anime, though many shows in this category typically either involve romance or comfy slice-of-life elements.

Asobi Asobase is far from a typical show. Instead of featuring a love triangle or fun everyday scenarios, this series features a lot of surreal humor.

The series follows Hanako, Olivia, and Kasumi, three second-year students in an all-girls middle school.

This trio forms the “Pastime Club” where they spend time doing hilarious and oftentimes out-there activities.

It’s tough to fully describe what Asobi Asobase is with words as you should give at least the first episode a try to see if its brand of comedy is up your alley. After all, surreal humor isn’t for everyone.

Though one way of describing it is that it’s reminiscent of another popular surreal comedy anime, Nichijou.

While not entirely the same in terms of premise, both shows feature copious amounts of absurd jokes.

While Asobi Asobase only got one anime season, the manga continued until November 2022 when it ended in Chapter 132.

Now that it has been five months since the manga’s end, creator Rin Suzukawa is currently working on the new manga, Outsider Paradise.

This upcoming series will be serialized in Futabasha’s Manga Action magazine, and it will likely still feature Suzukawa’s signature surreal humor, but probably less than their first work.

Specifically, the series is described as a drama about a group of weird and funny high school girls.

The fact that it’s a drama should make it a bit more serious, but the weird cast should still provide lots of laughs.

Outsider Paradise will begin serialization on May 16, 2023.

For now, there’s no word yet on whether this manga will get released in English outside Japan.
