Riot Games' League of Legends animated series Arcane astonished fans with its compelling characters, epic story, and beautiful animation when it premiered on Netflix in early November 2021. Here's everything you need to know about Arcane Season 2, including the official release date, plot, cast, trailer, and more!

The adaptation was held the top spot for three weeks in a row hitting the top 10 on the streaming service in over 52 countries. The first season also won an Emmy for Outstanding Animated Program, and its story is not over yet.

All nine episodes of Season 1 are available to watch on Netflix, but fans have been craving for more episodes following the cliffhanger ending of Season 1.

Thankfully, it looks like Arcane's story is far from over. Its critical acclaim and high viewership made a second season seem inevitable, so we've compiled the latest information about Arcane Season 2 here.

Considering the overwhelmingly positive reception from fans and critics for Arcane Season 1 since its premiere on November 6, 2021, it's unsurprising that the animated series set in the world of Riot Games' popular MOBA game has been renewed for Season 2.

Just shortly after Arcane Season 1, Act 3 (the last 3 episodes of the first season) was released on Netflix, the streamer and Riot Games officially confirmed that Arcane Season 2 is in development.

In January 2022, co-creator and Executive Producer of Toonami, Jason DeMarco, opened up about how it took six years and an insane budget to create Arcane.

However, what should be considered is that at the time, the characters had yet to get their designs and 3D models, which means that Season 2 could involve a shorter production compared to the previous.

After all, this is exactly what Riot Games CEO Nicolo Laurent confirmed previously, "fans won't have to wait for six years [for Season 2]."

As of writing, no exact release date has been confirmed yet for Arcane Season 2.

The most recent update we received was during a video conference from League of Legends' parent company Tencent in September 2023 (via Kotaku), where it was revealed that Arcane Season 2 could potentially return on Netflix sometime in "Q4 2024" (October-December 2024).

This November 2023, the official Instagram and X profiles of the Arcane Show released a short teaser clip for when we can expect the premiere of Arcane Season 2, which is in November 2024.

As part of the Arcane Season 2 announcement, Netflix and Riot Games already confirmed that Hailee Steinfeld (Vi), Ella Purnell (Jinx), and Katie Leung (Caitlyn Kiramman) will be reprising their voice roles.

The Arcane Season 2 announcement teaser featured their voices, but the rest are still under wraps. Here are the other voice actors who were initially included in the first season, while waiting for the official cast lineup for Season 2:

  • Kevin Alejandro as Jayce Talis
  • Molly Harris as Young Caitlyn
  • Harry Lloyd as Viktor
  • Toks Olagundoye as Mel Medarda
  • JB Blanc as Vander and Bolbok
  • Mick Wingert as Cecil B. Heimerdinger
  • Reed Shannon as Ekko
  • Miles Brown as Young Ekko
  • Amirah Vann as Sevika

While Jason Spisak's (the voice of Silco) return remains uncertain, the most we can expect from the voice actor is to have his lines reenacted in mere flashbacks, right?

But as it so happened earlier this year, Spisak told Izuko Unscripted podcast, he has "recorded lines for Season 2":

"Yeah, well, I've recorded lines for Season 2. They let me say it. Riot Games let me tell people. They said, 'You can officially tell people that you have recorded lines for Season 2.' So I'm allowed to say that I have."

During Netflix's Geek Week 2022 virtual event, Jinx voice actress Ella Purnell acknowledged that she already started working on Arcane Season 2.

However, she had yet to spill any interesting detail we could speculate about with the series moving forward.

Arcane Season 2 Plot: What Could Happen in the Next Season of the League of Legends Animated Series?

Netflix has yet to announce the official plot synopsis for Arcane Season 2, so the least we can do is speculate how the explosive cliffhanger of Season 1's ending would lead to the events of their upcoming return.

Jinx hosted a dramatic dinner akin to the dinner party the Mad Hatter often threw in Alice in Wonderland, with her 'guests' involving her sister Vi, the Piltover officer Caitlyn, and her adoptive father Silco.

Amidst revelations, Jinx was led to accidentally kill the only father figure she had left in the world. Not to mention, one of the major 'antagonists' that Season 1 had to deal with.

Now that Silco is gone, League of Legends fans speculate that the primary villain will eventually be Viktor. Given that he was more apathetic and cruel in the MOBA game than his Netflix counterpart, he could grow to become the new major villain.

However, there are other League of Legends characters that fans are hoping to see debut in the series, namely, Darius, Blitzcrank, Dr. Mundo, Ziggs, Orianna, Twitch, Urgot, Camille, and Warwick.

The last 'villain' has been voted the most likely to return, considering that Vander's subtle teaser about getting revived could lead to him turning into Warwick in the second season.

Of course, there's also Jinx, who decided to fire the Hextech rocket right at the Council building while she was still mourning Silco's death.

Then there's the potential teamwork running between Heimerdinger and Ekko since the latter has let the Professor into the Firelights' secret lair where they were rebuilding Zaun's society.

Not to mention, how Arcane Season 2 could highlight and uncover more secrets behind Mel Medarda's hidden identity and superpowers.

With tensions high between Piltover and Zaun, the early episodes of Arcane Season 2 will likely escalate the conflict between the two cities and result in the vote for Zaun's independence being canceled, most likely for good.

Arcane Season 2 Trailer: Is There Already a Teaser or Trailer For Arcane's Return?

On November 11, 2023, the official Instagram and X profile pages of the Arcane Show released a short quick footage of Jinx's final moments in Arcane Season 1 in which she was about to blast off the Council from Piltover's Bridge.

By the end of the short clip, a release date teaser was announced, November 2024.

Netflix's announcement was accompanied by a short clip confirming the release of Season 2, but it doesn't feature any new footage yet. You can watch the new footage below:

In the meantime, here's the full trailer for Arcane Season 1 which Netflix released back in September 2021:
