Aquaman’s Team Was ‘Pushed To The Limits’ To Bring The Movie To Life

A spectacular tentpole comic book movie that has been compared to both Star Wars and the Lord of the Rings, it comes as no surprise to hear that a lot of work was put into the DC Extended Universe's Aquaman. Not only did the film require elaborate special effects, it also demanded detailed set pieces and intricate stunt coordination – things that brought Aquaman's production to a $200 million cost.

Now, speaking with the press during a junket for the film ahead of its official premiere this Friday, December 21, the cast and crew of Aquaman makes it clear that they pushed especially hard to make Jason Momoa's first standalone movie as Arthur Curry the cinematic spectacle that it is.

"Everything we did in this movie, we were just pushed to the limits in every department," Aquaman's Patrick Wilson told news outlets that were present during the junket, one of which included CBR.

According to Amber Heard, Aquaman's leading lady, the film "required so many different teams," so much so that sometimes "we would be in the lunch tent and you'd look around and see four or five doubles of yourself."

Everyone was pushed to the limit to create Aquaman - a fact that isn't quite surprising considering that James Wan had to build an entire underwater world fort the DCEU. It isn't easy working with water, and it isn't easy bringing an entirely new universe to life on the big screen.

Now, with Aquaman set for release tomorrow, we're hoping that all that hard work pays off and the film becomes an overwhelming success for the DCEU.
