We all know for a fact that Amber Heard's name has become synonymous with controversy but there's no denying that 2022 was the peak of it all. The year was filled with ups and downs (mostly downs) for the 26-year-old actress after she lost the multi-million defamation lawsuit Johnny Depp filed against her.

On top of that, Amber's Hollywood career has become the subject of speculation, with many under the impression that her days as an actress are over. With Heard being one of the most-talked-about stars in the world, it no longer comes as a surprise how she managed to break an interesting internet record.

According to a report from Evie Magazine, Amber has topped Google's list as the most searched celebrity of 2022. The list includes a who's who of celebrity newsmakers for the past year — from Will Smith to Queen Elizabeth II. Unsurprisingly, Heard's ex-husband Johnny Depp came in at the number two spot on the list.

Other notable names that topped the 2022 search engine are Ryan Reynolds, Pete Davidson, Zendaya, Tom Brady, and Elon Musk.

There's a good chance that 2023 will be no different for the ever-so-controversial star and despite her recent settlement with Depp, the actress will now have to turn her attention to her acting career. As it stands, her status in the DC Universe remains unclear and over the last couple of months, there have been conflicting reports surrounding her appearance in the Aquaman sequel.

Now, whether or not she gets booted out of the project remains to be seen but one thing's for certain, we haven't heard the last of Amber Heard.

Meanwhile, Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom is slated for theatrical release on December 25, 2023.
