Aquaman Gets Its Official Rating From The MPAA

It looks like Aquaman won't be that family friendly. Jason Momoa's very first standalone movie as the DC Extended Universe's Arthur Curry has finally received its official rating from the MPAA, and it looks like children under 13 are going to have to miss the movie.

According to the official Aquamanwebsite, the MPAA gave the movie a PG-13 film for its "sequences of sci-fi violence and action" as well as "some language" in the movie. Though that might be disappointing to younger audiences looking forward to the movie, the PG-13 rating doesn't come as much of a surprise – after all DCEU movies like Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, Suicide Squad, Wonder Woman, and Justice League were all given the same rating by the organization.

The DCEU franchise isn't all that family friendly – it does have its dark and gritty moments.

What's more concerning are the early reviews for the film. Warner Brothers just recently held a test screening for Aquaman, and while journalists and reviewers thought the film was "good" they said that it wasn't that "great" either.

Knowing that the film still has four months to release, the studio still has a lot of time to work out whatever kinks the film has. Hopefully, by the time December arrives, DC fans are going to get a great DCEU movie.
