Aquaman Director Debunks Rumor that WB Cut 20 Minutes from the Film

It's no mystery that the DCEU has had a pretty rough start. Besides Wonder Woman, everything else in the franchise has not been received whole-heartedly by fans. Now a rumor is coming out that WB has meddled with the final product, but director James Wan has come to Twitter to confirm that no such thing has happened.

MCU Cosmic's Jeremy Conrad asked Wan if there was any truth to the rumor that WB has cut 20 minutes from the original version of Aquaman. Wan replied simply:

WB meddling is not a surprise, and it has resulted in a lot of bad turns for the DCEU. After the poor reception of Batman v Superman, WB was said to have meddled heavily with Suicide Squad in order to make the film a bit lighter; resulting into one hot mess of a film. Let's also not forget what happened with Justice League, which was forced to have a runtime under two hours. Heck , Joss Whedon had to up and quit his Batgirl project after working on this movie.

It's no stretch to say that the DCEU needs to get back on its feet, and after a hiatus with Justice League, a lot of people are waiting to see what Aquaman has to bring to the table. Personally, I think the trailers could have been handled better, but I think WB is trying their best to make everyone know that the DCEU franchise is trying its best to move out of the dark superhero movie territory.

Catch Aquaman in theaters Dec. 21.
