The Aquaman trailer debuted at the Warner Brothers panel at this year's San Diego Comic-Con International this weekend and a lot of fans were taken in by all the great details in Arthur Curry's (Jason Momoa) upcoming standalone movie.
One of the tiny details that fans noticed while watching the gorgeously colourful Aquaman trailer that one of Atlantis' underwater creatures swims about in the ocean and act as Norm's (Patrick Wilson)gigantic ride in the final moment s of the video. Intrigued by the giant creature, one fan decided to ask Aquaman director James Wan whether or not Ocean Master's steed was a Mosasaurus and it looks like the fan guessed right.
"Pretty much. @Patrickwilson73's ride of choice – an armoured tylosaur," Wan answered on Twitter.
For those who aren't familiar with the terms, the Tylosaurus is a monster part of the Mosasaur family. Mosasaurs are extinct carnivorous aquatic lizards that used to exist 70 million years ago during the Maastrichtian age of the late Cretaceous period. While the Tylosaurus is pretty much extinct now, it looks like the creatures still exist in Aquaman, and somehow Ocean Master is using the creature and its long snout as an offensive weapon.
Norm taking a larger-than-life non-existant creature for his steed might seem like a tad bit too much, but Aquaman looks like it's going to be a huge film in itself.
Aquaman premieres on December 21, 2018.
