Aquaman Becomes One Of Hollywood’s Highest-Grossing Films Of All Time

Aquaman just keeps on winning. Now, as the DC Extended Universe entry approaches its final weeks in cinemas, Aquaman is gaining even more box office success, becoming one of the highest-grossing films of all time.

According to Box Office Mojo, Jason Momoa's first standalone movie as Arthur Curry has just pulled up to a gross of $1.13 billion at the worldwide box office, passing Transformers: Dark of the Moon to become Hollywood's 20th highest grossing movie of all time.

This is big news for the DC comic book movie. Aquaman is the first DC entry to ever reach a billion at the box office and now it's made its way to the list of top 20 Hollywood earners, proving that the DCEU can get it right even after a shaky start with films like Man of Steel, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, and of course, Justice League.

While Aquaman's theatrical run is about to end, there's still a chance that the comic book movie can still earn some more at the box office. With another $23 million Aquaman can make it to the top 19 spot on the list, beating Marvel's Captain America: Civil War.

Hopefully, Aquaman continues to do well as it closes out. 2019 is filled with a lot of highly anticipated entries like Marvel's Captain Marvel, Avengers: Endgame and Spider-Man: Far From Home. Meanwhile, Lucasfilm's third and final sequel trilogy installment, Star Wars: Episode IX, is also on its way.

Aquaman has to earn more to make sure it doesn't get edged out by these sure-fire earners.

Aquaman is currently screening in cinemas.
