Aquaman Beats a Bunch of Marvel Movies in Global Box Office

Aquaman is a fine enough movie on its own, though some would argue that its still of lesser quality when compared to some of the top-tier superhero movies out there. You can probably name the Marvel movies that are of lesser quality than Aquaman on one hand, which is a bit disappointing but at least it's better than Batman V Superman, Justice League, and Suicide Squad.

So it might shock fans to know that the film has already made more money than a number of high-grossing Marvel films. According to ComicBook.com, the King of Atlantis has already turned the tide for DC and made more money than Venom, Thor: Ragnarok, and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, which is pretty surprising.

To be fair, Aquaman is better than Venom. Fight me.

Making a total of $866 million globally, it's clear that this movie is a winner and DC is slowly winning back audiences who didn't like the previous movies. It might be a bit basic but that's what needs to be done sometimes so you know how to improve upon your product. With the sequel, here is hoping for a better script and improved characterization for Black Manta.

Once home to the most advanced civilization on Earth, the city of Atlantis is now an underwater kingdom ruled by the power-hungry King Orm. With a vast army at his disposal, Orm plans to conquer the remaining oceanic people -- and then the surface world. Standing in his way is Aquaman, Orm's half-human, half-Atlantean brother and true heir to the throne. With help from royal counselor Vulko, Aquaman must retrieve the legendary Trident of Atlan and embrace his destiny as protector of the deep.

Aquaman might still be showing in some theaters.
