The highly publicized defamation trial between Johnny Depp and his ex-wife was given a verdict in favor of the former but the Aquaman actress Amber Heard isn't giving up just yet as she hires new lawyers to appeal the decision given by the court.
Aquaman actress Amber Heard lost the case against her ex-husband, Johnny Depp, after the highly publicized defamation trial held in Fairfax County, Virginia which left the actress devastated and heartbroken.
However, Heard is not giving up just yet as she leans to the Constitution for her appeal. Heard would not just want her appeal to be heard, she cut off her lawyer Elaine Bredehoft and got a new team as per Deadline's report.
With a $10.4 million award to Johnny Depp, Amber Heard hired David L. Axelrod and Jay Ward Bron to be her lawyers in her attempt to counter the judgment in a court filing in the Old Dominion. Woods Rogers Vandeventer Black's Bed Rottenborn remains as co-counsel for Heard.
In the appeal, Heard's new legal team focuses on the First Amendment, reiterating the elementary principles of the Freedom of Speech for the reversal of the court's decision against Heard. Heard's new lawyers said, “We’re confident the appellate court will apply the law properly without deference to popularity."

Amber Heard hired Axelrod and Brown who specializes in the freedom of speech clause when they served as counsels for New York Times in a libel suit against Sarah Palin's editorial. Palin's case was rejected by the Empire State jury and judge.
Amber Heard gave notice to the court about her appeal on July 21 and Depp also filed his appeal notice the following day. Heard still has to put an $8.3 million bond required to appeal the judgment under Virginia law and her new legal team have until September 4 for the filing of the appeal.
Amber Heard is set to appear as Mera in Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom.
