Aquaman Actor Jason Momoa Gets ‘Arrested’ For Protesting The Construction Of TMT

It looks like the DC Extended Universe's Aquaman star Jason Momoa has gotten himself into a bit of trouble protesting the Thirty Meter Telescope's construction.

The comic book movie star was recently photographed in Hawaii getting "arrested" for protesting the construction of the Thirty Meter Telescope, a proposed astronomical observatory that's set to be built on Mauna Kea, a sacred mountain on the island of Hawaii.

The image, of course, seems staged, seeing how playful Momoa looks in the picture. The officers in charge also seem to be having a good time with smiles on their faces as they seem to be putting the DCEU star in custody.

There's been a lot of controversy regarding the construction of the Thirty Meter Telescope. The area which the TMT is proposed to be constructed on is considered sacred land to native Hawaiian culture and religion. Not only has Momoa been protesting the telescope's construction, but so many Hawaiians have done so as well.

For those who aren't familiar with Momoa's heritage, the DCEU star's father is actually a native Hawaiian and a native American from his mother's side. Some of Momoa's cultural background was incorporated in the story for Aquaman where we get to see Arthur Curry's father being played by Star Wars actor Temuera Morrison, a man of Maori descent.

Right now, Momoa refuses to work on any other film, concentrating on the protest against the construction of the Thirty Meter Telescope.

Momoa's film, Aquaman, is currently available on Digital HD, Blu-Ray, and DVD.
