Aquaman 2 Writer Updates Fans on The Trench Spinoff

Ever since Aquaman's big premiere, fans have been demanding a spinoff involving The Trench, a terrifying species of sightless, nocturnal, and vicious monsters that can be found living in the chilling depths of the Kingdom of the Trench.

Understanding the potential for an Aquaman film franchise, Warner Brothers has been developing a proper sequel to the film as well as a spinoff starring The Trench. Though there aren't that many major details about the spinoff movie, it seems like fans finally have a brief update on how the movie is going to fit in the overall timeline of the DC Extended Universe.

Taking to Twitter, the writer on both Aquaman and Aquaman 2, David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick, just recently decided to talk about The Trench.

When asked by a fan where and when the film would take place, the writer said that the spinoff movie would be somewhere between Aquaman and Aquaman 2.

"Theoretically, it takes place between 1 and 2. But some pieces of this is still being worked out," the writer wrote on his post on Twitter.

This means that Warner Brothers is still working on the pre-production of The Trench spinoff. That would make sense considering that the spread of COVID-19 is getting in the way of production and principal photography of upcoming films.

It's exciting though to see some update on the Aquaman spinoff. We're hoping that we'll get more news as time moves along.
