Aquaman 2: Randall Park Teases Dr. Stephen Shin's Bigger Role in DCEU Sequel

It might still be a long wait for Aquaman 2 but Randall Park is already looking forward to his character's return in the highly anticipated sequel. After all, Dr. Stephen Shin had a brief but important role to play in the first film. Interestingly, it looks like the scientist will play a larger part in the upcoming DC Extended Universe film.

Park recently spoke to BUILD about his future projects and it was no surprise that Aquaman 2 was brought up. The Always Be My Maybe star was quick to point out that being a part of the DCEU is a big deal for him.

"Yeah it's surreal because I grew up collecting comic books, I was a big Marvel fan you know, so just to be in that world and to play a character that was actually in the comic books," Park admitted. "And then on top of that in the same year to be in Aquaman and to play a character that was in the DC universe, I mean that was pretty surreal."

Not surprisingly, Park revealed that he is already excited to explore Shin's storyline in Aquaman 2 because of how the first film teased on a larger role.

"I'm looking forward to whatever happens with that character because that character is going to come back for sure," Park said.

In the Aquaman post-credits scene, Shin was shown tinkering with Black Manta's helmet before David Kane offered him a deal: help David take revenge on Arthur Curry in exchange for David leading him to Atlantis. It's a sinister plan that could lead to Shin becoming one of Arthur's new enemies and we can't wait to see how it will all go down.

Aquaman 2 is scheduled for release on December 16, 2022.
