One of the questions that fans have regarding the upcoming DCEU sequel Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom is Amber Heard's involvement in the midst of the controversy surrounding her relationship with ex-husband Johnny Depp that resulted in a highly publicized trial last year.

There are rumors that the actress' screen time in the film was removed from the final cut although it has since been disputed and the studio iterated that she is still part of the sequel.

Eventually, Heard revealed in her testimony in the trial last year that her role in the upcoming film was allegedly reduced and she won't have the same screen time that she had in the first film as they removed more scenes with her.

So what is the actual truth regarding Heard's screen time in the sequel? Now, the director has finally settled the dispute.

Speaking with Entertainment Weekly, director James Wan addressed Heard's involvement in Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom where he confirmed that her screen time won't be the same as the first film since the sequel is always intended to focus more on Arthur Curry and Orm.

"I always pitched this to everyone from the get-go. The first Aquaman was Arthur and Mera's journey. The second movie was always going to be Arthur and Orm," he said.

"So, the first was a romance action-adventure movie, the second one is a bromance action-adventure movie. We'll leave it at that."

Based on Wan's comments, it sounds like Heard's reduced screen time in the sequel has nothing to do with her real-life controversies since the story is not always intended to be another adventure between the couple.

While we don't know exactly yet how Mera will play into the story of the upcoming film, one thing's for sure is that at this point, we will be seeing her in some capacity, and any rumors about her scenes being cut should not be taken seriously.

The film is also set to arrive in three months and it is likely that Wan already has a cut that satisfies him and the studio so he definitely knows what kind of screen time will Heard have. We will find out the answer when we see it in its entirety this holiday season.

Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom is set to arrive in theaters this December 20.
