Gotham City Finds Its New Hero, Frankenstein

It is a well-known fact that Batman is the superhero that ensures the safety of the people of Gotham City. But as it turns out, Frankenstein may be the character that surrounds the story in the release of the comic Gotham City Monsters.

In an interview with Newsarama, writer Steve Orlando and artist Amancay Nahuelpan shares a rundown of the story.

With the disastrous events caused by Event Leviathan following the downfall of S.H.A.D.E, Orlando saw this as an opportunity for Frankenstein to discover new places and assemble his own team of allies since he basically doesn't know anyone anymore.

This is where Frankenstein is led to a place called Monstertown. His team will be in full force since there's apparently an alliance of monsters forming as well but only with such evil doings.

The team is set to face Frankenstein's nemesis, the Melmoth as well as other characters Frank hasn't encountered before. It is said that the team is comprised of Killer Croc, Lady Clayface, Orca, and Andrew Bennett.

Also featured in this comic would be a new character to be introduced in Frank's team named Red Phantom, who Orlando says is "tied" to an unnamed part of Monstertown that has been successfully protected over a hundred years.

Orlando shares that the readers should only be aware of one thing, and that is "the Multiverse is in danger" and Frankenstein would be assembling the "strangest team" to save them.

He mentioned how he isn't the only one that's excited to work on a character such as Frankenstein. ScreenRant also had a talk with the writer where he mentioned that he hasn't found any creator who isn't ecstatic to work on Frank's character.

He adds, "There are things that are just fun to draw and inspire creative energy" and he thinks Frankenstein is one of those characters.

Orlando also stated that he was just glad to have found something that he could use to "thread the needle of all these big happenings in the DC Universe" especially with all the events that transpired within the city.

Gotham City Monsters #1 will be released on September 11th.
