Ant-Man Writer Adam McKay has a Message for Martin Scorsese

And the flames just keep on burning. Yet another figure has weighed in on Martin Scorsese's long-standing debate regarding the stature of superhero films in the industry, this time in the form of Ant-Man Writer Adam McKay.

Speaking to Deadline, McKay said, "I wrote one, Ant-Man, and I love 'em. I felt like, c'mon Marty, what are you doing? You're an all-time hero, and some of those movies are really good."

If you may recall, Scorsese recently admitted to having attempted to watch Marvel movies but stopped because of how he didn't feel connected to them. To this McKay replied with a stellar recommendation: "To anyone who disses superhero movies, I always say, watch Thor: Ragnarok. That movie is awesome."

McKay, of course, was not the first to come in Marvel's defense. The issue has already escalated all the way to the top with both Bob Iger and Kevin Feige each coming out with statements of their own.

"Martin Scorsese is a great film-maker. I admire him immensely. He's made some great films. I would debate him on this subject. First of all, Marvel's making movies. They're movies. That's what Martin Scorsese makes. And they're good movies," Iger said in an interview with BBC.

Scorsese, on the other hand, has since penned a piece regarding the entire fiasco in the New York Times which has gained him a great amount of praise. But still, the debate goes on and does not seem to be nearing its end.

His latest film The Irishman is now showing in limited theaters in the United Kingdom and is expected to hit Netflix by the end of this month. Meanwhile, Marvel is set to roll out its Phase 4 next year starting off with Black Widow on May 1.
