Ant-Man Director Peyton Reed Thinks The Wasp Would Be A Great Leader In An All-Female Marvel Movie

Hope Van Dyne (Evangeline Lilly) is a pretty intelligent and competent hero, and after showing off her skills in Ant-Man and the Wasp, director Peyton Reed now believes that the Wasp ought to be at the front and center of an all-female comic book movie for the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Speaking with The Huffington Post for an interview, Peyton Reed was asked whether there was a possibility that Hope might join a hypothetical all-female Marvel Movie. Not only does the director believe that Wasp would be part of the hypothetical film, he also thinks she'd make a great leader of the group.

"I'd like her running things," Reed said. "I'd like to see her as the head of the all-female Avengers. I know Evangeline sort of said, maybe, that would be 'Captain Marvel', because she does have the word 'captain' in her name. But I think Hope van Dyne is a very decisive leader and a tactician, in addition to being a brilliant scientist. So she checks a lot of boxes in terms of who's going to be running the Avengers, theoretically."

It really isn't that hard to see Hope taking charge of an all-female superhero team. The Wasp might not have superpowers of her own, but she's pretty intelligent, and competent as well. Sure, heroes like Scarlett Johansson's Black Widow and Brie Larson's Captain Marvel would both do great taking the lead, but Hope's also a pretty great candidate for the part.

Right now there's no word about whether or not Marvel's going to start working on an all-female Marvel movie, however, actresses like Thor: Ragnarok Valkyrie star Tessa Thompson have been very vocal about the potential project and Marvel seems to be pretty interested in the idea.

The Wasp is set to return in Avengers 4 on May 3, 2019.
