Ant-Man and The Wasp: Michael Douglas Would Love a Hank Pym Prequel

When fans found out that the Ant-Man movie would star Scott Lang instead of Hank Pym, many were disappointed. Though Pym did make it in the movie, he was now a mentor character and not the lead, which wasn't a hugely popular decision with fans who love the hero. Not helping was the character's recent merging with Ultron in the comics, effectively making him a villain.

Fans of Hank Pym might have something to celebrate though since Michael Douglas, the actor who portrays Pym in this week's Ant-Man and The Wasp, is willing to star in a prequel that focuses on the character.

Speaking with ComicBook.com, Douglas revealed that he enjoyed seeing Marvel make him look young again in the first Ant-Man movie and would love to do that for a prequel. "I just hope Marvel is listening," Douglas said when ComicBook.com suggested a Hank Pym prequel film in the interview. "ComicBook.com, guys, you hear what he's saying, Marvel? Here we go! It's going to be the entire future of my life."

Hank Pym was a founding Avenger and has taken part in a number of memorable storylines in the comics. Despite that, the character's legacy might always be tarnished after he struck his then-wife Janet Van Dyne after a bout with insanity. To be fair, the Avengers made Pym pay for it by removing him from the team and he did redeem himself eventually but the damage was done.

Ant-Man and The Wasp his theaters on July 6.
