Andy Serkis Confirms His Andor Role's Mysterious Fate

Andy Serkis made his return to the Star Wars franchise when he guest starred during the first season of Andor as Kino Loy, Cassian Andor's co-prisoner at an Imperial prison facility at Narkina 5. His comeback albeit in a different role was welcomed by many fans who hope that it would lead him to more appearances.

Kino Loy's fate remains unknown as the last that we saw him, he failed to jump into the water during a prison break as he doesn't know how to swim. Fans are wondering whether we will see him again during the second season and find out what's next for him.

Speaking with Collider, Serkis was asked whether he will return in the second season of Andor where he revealed that the character is still alive according to showrunner Tony Gilroy. However, he played coy on whether he will actually show up during the next season.

"Well, put it this way, Tony Gilroy said to me, 'He’s still alive!' That’s what he said to me. So, that seems to me like there’s some sort of…there’s a possibility that he might be alive," he said.

"Yeah, absolutely. I mean, if a character becomes popular, sure, sure. I seriously hope that is going to manifest because I really do love the character, and I love playing the character so much. He’s so complex and flawed and human and brave."

Serkis added, "I really love the arc of the character, and I think there’s definitely– I’m just imagining him sitting at Narkina 5 at the moment, on his own, perfecting his backstroke."

A lot of fans are surely hoping that we will see Kino Loy and find out whether he was actually able to escape from prison and swim. It is also great to hear that the character is still alive as far as we know as it opens the door for him to return in the second season.

For now, let's just wait and see whether we will see the actor in the next season and find out his fate on-screen.
