Andy Serkis Admits to Being Hesitant About Joining Andor

Andy Serkis made his surprise return to the Star Wars franchise last year when he joined the series Andor for a three-episode guest arc as Kino Loy, Cassian Andor's fellow prisoner and floor manager at the Imperial prison facility on Narkina 5.

Since the actor also portrayed Supreme Leader Snoke in the sequel trilogy, fans can't help but theorize whether his new character in the series has any connection to the villain and his guest role might be their way to show the origins of the character.

In a recent appearance at Collider's screening of the Narkina 5 episodes of Andor, Serkis revealed that he was initially hesitant about joining the series due to his concerns that the fans and audience will try to make a connection between his two characters in the Star Wars franchise.

"Actually, when I was approached, I was quite trepidacious because I was thinking, there were so many Snoke theories over the years that I'd had to duck and dive and avoid," he said.

"And then I just thought, 'Oh no, this is gonna be a nightmare because people are gonna think Kino Loy is somehow associated with Snoke, and I'm gonna have to talk around the houses.""

Obviously, as we all know now, Serkis ended up getting over his concerns and agree to appear in the series for a three-episode arc where he managed to chew the scenery again in the franchise through another role.

Based on what they've shown so far, the two characters are not connected in any sort of way and we haven't seen any possibility that Kino Loy's journey will end up going to the dark path.

After all, when Serkis was playing Snoke, he was doing motion-capture and he wasn't appearing through his real-life physical appearance unlike in Andor where he showed up as a real person without any makeup or motion-capture suit needed to play the character.

Fortunately, we will be seeing Serkis again during the second season and we will learn more about what happened to Kino Loy after the cliffhanger on his last appearance where his fate was left up in the air.
