American Gods 3 Close to Renewal

It's been a long wait, but American Gods 2 is finally coming back this March. A lot of people were expecting the show to get canceled what with all the backstage drama, but rumor has it that a third season is very close to getting greenlit.

According to Deadline, the third season of American Gods is a ‘divine certainty." The source close to the production had told the site, "We didn't make Season 2 of American Gods not to make a Season 3."

The first season, which was run by Bryan Fuller and Michael Green was a huge hit, but after Fuller and Green left, the show was forced to bring in someone else in the form of Jesse Alexander. What's more, it was said that Alexander was fired halfway throughout shooting the second season, and now he's gone for good.

After all this drama, I guess we'll just have to wait and see just how American Gods 2 turned out. If it goes well, then the show will need to find a new showrunner to take the helm. Apparently, there are some ‘top-tier candidates' in talks to take over. Now I'm curious who they would choose. Do you think Vince Gilligan is too busy working on his Breaking Bad movie?

American Gods was originally planned for six seasons, but nobody thought that they would go through three showrunners leaving the show. Let's hope this fourth one will be the final one moving forward.

Catch American Gods 2 when it airs March 10.
