AMC Networks recently agreed to settle a class action lawsuit, meaning users of HIDIVE and other AMC streaming platforms can claim compensation.

This lawsuit was filed with claims regarding AMC Networks' streaming platforms tracking user activity and selling them to third parties without their consent.

While not the same lawsuit, this case is similar to the one filed against Crunchyroll and Sony Pictures Entertainment. That’s because both lawsuits claim similar unauthorized third-party sharing of information.

HIDIVE is a major streaming platform and is considered one of the biggest in the US alongside the likes of Crunchyroll.

The service streams lots of popular shows. For instance, some big winter 24 titles like The Dangers in My Heart Season 2 and My Instant Death Ability Is So Overpowered are HIDIVE-exclusive in the US.

Sentai Filmworks is an American entertainment company that owned HIDIVE before January 2022. In that month, AMC Networks acquired Sentai Filmworks, including subsidiaries such as HIDIVE.

Recently, details about a class action lawsuit were shared online. The lawsuit claims that AMC Networks' streaming platforms used Meta Pixel to track user activity and subsequently shared them with third parties.

Despite AMC Networks agreeing to the settlement amount, the company has not admitted wrongdoing regarding the case against it.

With this, users of AMC Networks' streaming platforms between January 18, 2021, and January 10, 2024, can claim compensation.

These platforms include HIDIVE, AMC+, Shudder, Acorn TV, ALLBLK, and Sundance Now.
