In a chat with Entertainment Tonight, Andrew Garfield revealed desperately eyeing the role of Prince Caspian in The Chronicles of Narnia franchise. Garfield said, “I remember I was so desperate. I auditioned for Prince Caspian in 'The Chronicles of Narnia' and I thought, 'This could be it, this could be it.’”

The role of Prince Caspian was given to Ben Barnes and Garfield later got his role in the Amazing Spider-Man. Garfield said that according to the creative team of the film series, the reason why he didn’t get Prince Caspian’s role was that he was not handsome enough for it. Garfield added, "And that handsome, brilliant actor Ben Barnes ended up getting the role. I think it was down to me and him, and I remember I was obsessed."

It was a blow on his end, however, he even praised Barnes for his impressive rendition of Prince Caspian, "Why not me? She eventually just broke under my incessant nagging and she was like, 'It's because they don't think you're handsome enough, Andrew.’ Ben Barnes is a very handsome, talented man. So in retrospect, I'm not unhappy with the decision and I think he did a beautiful job."

When asked about the future of his version of Spider-Man, Garfield remains hopeful, "Never say never. It's a character that's always going to be so meaningful to me, and so beautiful to me and again, it comes back to service.” Garfield added, “I think if there's a way, because that's what that character is all about, he's all about serving the greater good and serving his fellow people, serving humanity and all life."

Garfield treats portraying Spider-Man as a part of a legacy, "So, if there's a way for me to continue to add to the legacy of that character in a way that feels like it's of service to an audience, of service to the themes that Stan Lee injected that character with."

The actor keeps his doors open for the future of the character, "I'm open, of course, I'm very, very open, but it would have to be very, very special. It would have to be very, very meaningful and fun, and joyful, like doing No Way Home was."

The Chronicles of Narnia movies had three films released in 2006 with The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe; in 2008 with Prince Caspian; and in 2010 with The Voyage of the Dawn Treader. Back in 2018, news spread like wildfire as the official Facebook page of The Chronicles of Narnia confirmed that the beloved book series of C.S. Lewis has been taken under the wings of Netflix for a reboot series.

In the post, it is indicated, “Netflix will develop new series and film projects based on C.S. Lewis’ beloved The Chronicles of Narnia series. Under the terms of a multi-year deal between Netflix and The C.S. Lewis Company, Netflix will develop classic stories from across the Narnia universe into series and films for its members worldwide.”

On the other hand, Andrew Garfield took the helm of the Amazing Spider-Man in 2021 and in 2014. Most recently, he appeared in Spider-Man: No Way Home as a variant of Peter Parker and his arrival in the film was a blast, giving light to his portrayal once more, and everyone would love to see him again don the suit of the friendly neighborhood, Spider-Man.

Maybe this time, Garfield could get the role of Prince Caspian in the reboot, right?

No release date has been given yet to the reboot series of The Chronicles of Narnia. Spider-Man: No Way Home is currently in theaters.
