The network has received average ratings for the first six episodes of Alaska Daily. It is undeniable that the show's ratings are boosted via playback (also known as DVR and streaming) methods. This is wonderful news for Alaska Daily in a world where fewer and fewer people watch live television.
In addition, for her role as Eileen Fitzgerald in Alaska Daily, Hilary Swank was nominated for the 2023 Golden Globe Award for Best Actress in a Drama Series. The fact that Alaska Daily is garnering notice at major award ceremonies is also a positive indicator of its future.
Nonetheless, it is unclear whether the authors intended for Alaska Daily to have a future. It would be easy to adapt the show into a limited series. And Swank's celebrity status may prevent Alaska Daily Season 2 from being produced. Obviously, we hope the producers have many more tales to share after the first season. Yet, we won't know until ABC either renew or cancels Alaska Daily.
Enemy of the People, the next episode of Alaska Daily, will premiere on ABC on Mar. 2 at 10 p.m. ET. Fans can view the first six episodes of the series on Hulu while awaiting its release.
