Aladdin Star Mena Massoud Interested to Play Nightwing

Nightwing has become of the popular DC characters ever since Dick Grayson took the mantle in Tales of the Teen Titans issue #44. There have been reports that Warner Bros. is working on a DCEU film surrounding the character, with The Lego Batman Movie director Chris McKay signed on to helm the project. Now, there is one actor who has expressed his interest on playing the hero.

In an interview with Screen Rant, Aladdin star Mena Massoud expressed his interest in playing Nightwing. He even shared that he works out in the gym as a manifestation of getting the role. "I really would love to play a superhero in the DC or Marvel universe," he said. "I want to play a superhero, so I got to look like a superhero. Maybe I got to get in shape like a superhero before I'm cast as one, but I think it's important to put things out there in the universe that you want to do and just really work really hard and smart towards them and... see what happens."

When asked about why he specifically wants to play Nightwing, he answered, "I've been obsessed with Batman, but I think Batman's kind of... it's been done a lot now and it's been done by some fantastic actors. I don't think I can top them in that way, but Nightwing just has a really interesting story [that] hasn't been done before, he's a little bit younger. So yeah, he's a character I've just always been drawn to."

Massoud playing Nightwing actually sounds like a great idea. He has proved in Aladdin that he is a talented leading man. He also has the looks and physicality that make him ideal for the role. The fact that he is actively working out in the gym proved that he will take the role seriously if he ever gets it and he has what it takes to play a superhero like Nightwing.

There have been rumors that Massoud is set to play Ezra Bridger in the Ahsoka series, but nothing has been confirmed yet. It would be great to see the actor get another big role after his wonderful turn in the live-action Aladdin film. If he ever gets to play Nightwing, it will surely bring him to the spotlight even more.
