Netflix recently dropped its futuristic rom-com movie AI Love You, featuring the Thai superstars Mario Maurer and Pimchanok Luevisadpaibul. With its different setting, where an AI can now develop feelings for a human, did it manage to capture the viewers’ interest?
AI Love You represents AIs as an entity that can be friends with a human. They’re not just an assistant taking orders, but a being that can love and understand.
As the story of Dob/Bob (Mario Maurer) and Lana (Pimchanok Luevisadpaibul) ends with a happy note, does the film’s ending gives justice to a love story that involves technology that it wants to sell?
AI Love You Ending Explored
The movie was set when buildings had already evolved into smart buildings managed by AIs. Dob is an AI who has fallen in love with Lana and is willing to do everything to make her fall in love with him.
After she first refuses his love, knowing a romance with an AI will not work, Dob starts to act up and Bob, a human who woos Lana and a programming expert, has to fix him. After a self-induced glitch, Dob manages to download its identity inside Bob’s body.

From here, a different love story begins and Dob gets the chance to be with Lana in human form. As the story continues and after a couple of troubles that involve a company that creates AI, SmartPlus, to reset Dob’s data, Bob/Dob and Lana end up with each other.
However, it looks like it has imposed more questions than giving the AI Love You a proper ending.
The Questions AI Love You Imposes
Lana manages to save Dob from being reset, thanks to Keno, who integrates to Lana’s body to fight Hawk, who will extract Dob’s data. Lana has secured Dob’s hard drive that contains all his data.
After a year, the final scene shows Lana and Bob together. However, AI Love You didn’t reveal if Keno and Dob are already out of their bodies.
Did Lana now love Bob for who he is and not because Dob is in him? DMTalkies noted that their talk implies that the two AIs have left their bodies.

Only 10% of Dob’s data remains in Bob’s body, so only a smart part of him may have survived in human form.
So, how does Bob manage to change from a toxic man to a caring guy like Dob? No one actually knows. The film didn’t reveal it either.
The film seems to be originally about a love affair between a human and an AI, but it ends up with a human-to-human romance.
Hence, it’s for the viewers to judge if AI Love You has lived up to its tale and name.
Anyhow, fans can’t deny that the movie has impressive cast members. Mario Maurer shows incredible acting after his transition from the annoying Bob to the loving Dob, per Yahoo! News.
Pimchanok Luevisadpaibul, too, impresses everyone with her charm. With these two leads, it’s no surprise that AI Love You gets’ the viewers’ interest.
