Warning: This article contains SPOILERS for Ahsoka Episode 8, so read at your own risk!

Morgan Elsbeth has been one of the regular characters in Ahsoka throughout its eight-episode run as she served as Grand Admiral Thrawn's right-hand woman and essentially became the key for him to return to the main galaxy.

Diana Lee Inosanto, who played the character, teased in a past interview that she will have a rematch with Rosario Dawson's Ahsoka Tano in the series following their previous fight in The Mandalorian and fans have been anticipating that moment to happen ever since.

As they suspected, the rematch did happen during the recently-aired season finale of the series and it led to a fate that seemed to be inevitable for the villain.

During the beginning of the eighth episode of Ahsoka, Morgan and Thrawn have a quick argument as the former suggests that they have already beaten Ahsoka Tano and they can depart from the planet to return to the main galaxy after finishing transferring the mysterious cargos.

Thrawn responded by reminding her about the past events when the Rebellion and the Jedi were able to successfully defeat the Empire. He went on to thank the Nightsisters for their service.

The Nightsisters approached Morgan and offered her the Gift of Shadows. Morgan accepted it and pledged to abandon her life. While casting a spell, Morgan's face started to have black marks like the Great Mothers and her eyes became all-black as well.

She was also handed the Blade of Talzin, which was glowing with flames and would be a good choice of weapon for her in the incoming fight.

Later on, Thrawn tasked Morgan to buy them more time as the Eye of Sion departed, and she obliged his order.

As Ahsoka Tano, Sabine Wren, and Ezra Bridger almost reached the top of the base, they were met by Morgan and Ahsoka decided to fight her in a duel by herself which led to their highly-anticipated rematch.

As the fight continued, the zombified night troopers also came to try to stop Ahsoka and the duel resumed at the top. Sabine also assisted her master by battling the troopers concurrently.

Eventually, Ahsoka was able to outwit Morgan and fatally strike her, leading to her death. One of the Nightsisters confirmed her fate to Thrawn inside the Eye of Sion. The Grand Admiral replied by iterating that she had served her purpose.

Considering that it's the season finale and what we know of Morgan's actual status within Thrawn's circles in their interactions in the last couple of episodes, it's not surprising that she became the major character that met her death and, in some ways, became Thrawn's sacrificial lamb as well.

However, it's also worth noting that her death came as she recently just received her special powers and they showed here that it was not enough for her to outmaneuver Ahsoka during the duel.

Alas, as Thrawn said, the character has served her purpose not just to Thrawn, but to the story of the series as well. While her screen time wasn't as big as some of the characters, Morgan still made enough for the fans in terms of her contribution to the Star Wars lore.

The entire first season of Ahsoka is available to stream on Disney+.
