Just when you thought DC's live-action Batwoman series was on the verge of cancelation, the project's home network CW has renewed the divisive show earlier this year and while we still don't know what the future holds for Ryan Wilder and the rest of the Bat-team, the Batman spinoff series has already been renewed for Season 3 and things are about to get pretty interesting in the coming months.

Variety reports that Season 3 has found its villain in actress Bridget Regan who will bring life to Pamela Isley aka Poison Ivy. According to their scoop, the actress will be given a recurring guest star role in the series and Ivy will be presented as a returning baddie in Gotham who is out for revenge.

Following the news, Regan, who previously starred in Marvel's ABC series Agent Carter took to social media to formally confirm her involvement in the show. She didn't say much but assured fans that "this is going to be fun". Check out her tweet here.

The show has suffered a few blows over the course of its run with Ruby Rose exiting the series due to reasons still unbeknownst to many. Javicia Leslie's entry to the fold gave the series a beacon of hope but so far, the fan response to her portrayal of Batwoman has been mixed, to say the least. Hopefully, the addition of Poison Ivy to the show will help invigorate the project because quite frankly, the show needs saving.

Batwoman Season 2 is streaming on CW.
