Acclaimed Marvel Artist Stuart Immonen Retires From Comics

Amazing Spider-Man #800 was always going to be a milestone issue for a variety of reasons. The number 800 itself is a huge milestone for Marvel, making Amazing Spider-Man their longest running series. It's also the climax of Dan Slott's lengthy run in the series and is the finale of Go Down Swinging, one of the most action-packed arcs in Spider-Man's history.

Sadly, the issue will also go down as the last for artist Stuart Immonen, who will be retiring from comics work.

Wade von Grawbadger, Immonen's long-time inker, revealed the news on Facebook, shocking many in the comic book community. The inker feels that Immonen could return to a short stint once in a while but other than that, Amazing Spider-Man #800 will be the last time we see him in a regular comic.

Immonen has been drawing Amazing Spider-Man issues for quite some time and all of them are a sight to behold. That could be said for any comic he has worked on, from Ultimate Spider-Man to Fear Itself, and Nextwave: Agents of H.A.T.E. He has also done some work for DC, with The Final Night and Superman: Secret Identity.

Amazing Spider-Man #800 is available in comic stores and digital outlets now.
