Acclaimed Anime Film Mary and The Witch's Flower Can Now Be Streamed on Netflix

Mary and The Witch's Flower was a pleasant surprise to many, with fans feeling like it was a lost Studio Ghibli movie. It only showed in a few theaters but the film was praised by many and now, a lot of fans are getting the chance to see this in a wider platform. Netflix has confirmed that the acclaimed anime movie can now be streamed on the service.

Fans can watch the English dub of the movie, which features talents like Ruby Barnhill as the titular Mary, Kate Winslet as Madam Mumblechook, Jim Broadbent as Doctor Dee, as well as Ewen Bremmer, Lynda Baron, Rasmus Hardiker, Teresa Gallagher, Morwenna Banks, and Louis Ashbourne Serkis.

The Studio Ghibli feel seems intentional since Hiromasa Yonebayashi directed the project. Yonebayashi worked on a number of projects for Ghibli, directing When Marnie Was There and The Secret World of Arrietty. He also wrote The Tale of Princess Kaguya, which was nominated for an Academy Award.

Mary and The Witch's Flower is based on Mary Stuart's The Little Broomstick. The story follows a little girl named Mary, who finds a mysterious flower which grants her the powers of a witch for a single night. It is Studio Ponoc's first feature film, which is a studio comprised of many former Studio Ghibli employees.
